Al-Radmah District Launches Second Phase of Improved Wheat Seed Distribution

Al-radmah: Local officials in Al-Radmah district of Ibb governorate launched on Sunday the second phase of a project to distribute improved wheat seeds to farmers, as part of efforts to boost agricultural production and strengthen food security. The project was inaugurated by Al-Radmah District Director Abdullah Al-Fareh and is being implemented with support from the Agricultural Cooperative Union in Ibb Governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the launch ceremony was attended by Local Council Secretary-General Mohammed Abdulmughni, General Mobilization Official Abdulwali Al-Harouni, President of the Al-Radmah Agricultural Cooperative Association Abdullah Abdulghani, and members of the association's administrative leadership. Speaking at the event, Al-Fareh stressed the importance of expanding the cultivation of strategic crops, particularly wheat, to reduce dependence on imports and enhance self-sufficiency.

He stated that the distribution of improved seeds forms part of broader efforts to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen food security. Describing the initiative as a practical step toward supporting farmers, improving crop quality, and increasing production levels, Al-Fareh noted that Al-Radmah District possesses significant agricultural potential. He called for stronger cooperation between government institutions and local communities to make better use of agricultural land and expand the cultivation of essential crops.

Al-Fareh also emphasized the need to encourage productive economic activities and sustainable agricultural initiatives. He highlighted the importance of supporting farmers and ensuring access to agricultural inputs. For his part, the district's Local Council Secretary-General described the initiative as an important contribution to the development of the agricultural sector and a means of encouraging farmers to expand wheat cultivation and other strategic crops.

Meanwhile, officials from the agricultural sector and Al-Radmah Agricultural Cooperative Association stated that five tons of irrigated wheat seed are being distributed during the current phase, with an additional five tons scheduled for distribution in the coming period. They also noted the availability of other agricultural inputs and crop seeds, including maize, beans, and apricots, as part of ongoing efforts to support agricultural development, reduce import dependence, and strengthen local food production.
