Taiz: Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Acting Governor of Taiz Ahmed al-Masawa inaugurated 65 agricultural and fisheries projects in Taiz. These projects, implemented during the year 1446 AH, were completed at a total cost of 2 billion and 41 million Y.R, with funding from the local authority through the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit and the agricultural sector.
According to Yemen News Agency, the inaugurations involved 25 projects focusing on various fields, including institutional building, social development, guidance, media, marketing, and the development of animal and plant resources. The ceremony was attended by key officials such as Brigadier General Mohammed al-Khaled and Deputy Governors Abdul-Wasie al-Shamsi and Mohammed al-Hussaini.
The Minister of Agriculture emphasized that these projects align with the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the Supreme Political Council's program to bolster agricultural development in Taiz. This initiative aims to strengthen food security by prioritizing local products over imports, including legumes and other items that can serve as substitutes in processing industries.
Dr. al-Rubai highlighted the importance of community-based agricultural projects and the development of animal and plant wealth. He noted that factory owners and investors are keen to incorporate local products, urging farmers to focus on producing goods that can compete with foreign imports.
Acting Governor al-Masawa confirmed ongoing projects centered on animal and plant production. He expressed his satisfaction with the Minister's visit, considering it a boost for further support and advancement of the agricultural sector to benefit farmers and the nation.
Engineer Abdullah al-Janadi, head of Taiz's agricultural sector, reported a significant shift in agricultural development, with the formation of 10 agricultural cooperatives and ongoing work on three more. He noted that field visits are being conducted to assess cooperative activities across districts.
The officials also visited national dairy and food factories in Al-Hawban, where they discussed the progress and potential for substituting imported inputs with local products. They stressed the importance of adhering to government directives for local production.
Al-Rubai and al-Masawa expressed confidence in the collaboration between national investors and the government to enhance national industries through scientific methods and well-coordinated efforts.
