Muscat: Governor of Socotra, Hashim Al-Suqatri, has urged residents of the governorate and other occupied regions to uphold their national responsibility during this critical juncture in Yemen's history by resisting the occupation's conspiratorial calls.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Suqatri highlighted the ongoing developments and conspiracies threatening the nation, emphasizing the need for unity among Yemenis to confront the Saudi adversary. He accused Saudi Arabia of killing tens of thousands of Yemenis, destroying vital resources, and enforcing an 11-year-long blockade.
"The Saudi enemy is currently mobilizing its tools and mercenaries to instigate infighting among Yemenis," Al-Suqatri stated. He stressed the importance of residents in Socotra and the occupied governorates resisting the occupation's calls to engage in deadly battles serving only the occupiers' schemes.
Al-Suqatri commended the awareness exhibited by the residents of Socotra and the occupied governorates in confronting the occupation, despite facing hardships, deteriorating services, and living conditions. He affirmed that the residents' national principles and awareness have thwarted attempts to erase their cultural identity.
He further noted that the current situation, coupled with the stance of the revolutionary leadership in Sana'a and the preemptive operations by the Yemeni Armed Forces against the Saudi enemy, necessitates an acknowledgment of the situation's gravity. Al-Suqatri called on the residents of Socotra and the occupied governorates to stand with the Yemeni leadership in Sana'a to reclaim all Yemeni territories and restore unity within the society.
Al-Suqatri appealed to all Yemenis, especially those in the occupied governorates, to rejoin the unified homeland and its capital, Sana'a. He emphasized that the homeland has space for all its citizens, and the division of Yemen must cease after years of aggression, blockade, and occupation.
In conclusion, Al-Suqatri asserted that recent years have proven that Yemen's issues can only be resolved internally, without foreign interference. He stressed that peace, stability, and development are achievable only through the solidarity and unity of all Yemenis.
