Sanaa: Acting Prime Minister Allama Mohammed Muftah inaugurated the eighth Martyr Al-Sammad Eid Clothing Exhibition for the poor in the Capital Secretariat. The event, organized by the General Authority of Zakat, cost 475 million riyals and will benefit 75,000 people as part of the Ramadan charity projects under the slogan 'Their joy is complete with their Eid clothing.'
According to Yemen News Agency, Muftah expressed the significance of the exhibition, highlighting its role in providing Eid clothing to the underprivileged, urging those who are well-off to support their fellow citizens. He praised the focus on locally made products, reflecting the Zakat Authority's commitment to supporting the local textile and tailoring industry through the efforts of productive families and national factories.
Muftah commended the Zakat Authority for consistently organizing the exhibition for eight years. He noted the additional cash assistance provided for Eid clothing through local authorities to support poor families. He also mentioned the progress in the tailoring and textile project, with hopes of achieving self-sufficiency in the sector, akin to efforts in agriculture and other industries crucial for Yemeni society.
The acting prime minister emphasized the successful initiatives of the General Authority of Zakat, highlighting its accurate database of needy families and the contributions from traders and businessmen through zakat payments.
Sheikh Shamsan Abu Nashtan, head of the General Authority of Zakat, stated that the eighth season of the exhibition will benefit 75,000 individuals from poor families in the Capital Secretariat. He emphasized the importance of Yemeni-made products, produced by local families, and mentioned the expected developments in domestic production through economic empowerment projects.
Abu Nashtan acknowledged the support of revolutionary and political leadership for poor families and the role of zakat contributors. He described zakat projects as a vital part of Islamic worship, fostering compassion, generosity, and solidarity, while ensuring the needy receive their rightful share.
The inauguration saw attendance from key figures, including Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in the Capital Secretariat and Zakat Authority's Board member Mohammed Salah, alongside representatives from the Endowments Authority, the Capital Secretariat, and other officials.
Following the inauguration, Muftah, Abu Nashtan, and other attendees toured the exhibition, receiving briefings on local clothing products and the distribution mechanism for beneficiaries.
