Anti-Corruption Authority Refers 725 Accused in Major Corruption Cases to Prosecution

Sana'a: The Board of the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Authority, in its regular meeting chaired by the Authority's Vice President Redhwan Al-Mutawakel, has approved the referral of 725 accused individuals in nine corruption cases to the Office of the Attorney General. This move aims to facilitate their subsequent transfer to the competent prosecution for the completion of procedures and filing of criminal lawsuits before the Public Funds and Anti-Corruption Court.

According to Yemen News Agency, the cases are linked to an estimated damage of 4 billion, 880 million, and 388 thousand riyals. These cases also involve the seizure and facilitation of seizure of land areas belonging to a significant and strategic state facility. The total seized land amounts to 7 million, one thousand, and 441 square meters, which is equivalent to 157,548 bricks. The Authority has successfully recovered 2 million and 30 thousand square meters of this area, equivalent to 45,679 bricks.

The incidents of corruption involved exploitation of influence, unauthorized seizure and facilitation of seizure of public funds, causing harm to state interests, and endangering the lives of citizens. The Authority's Board also discussed several other topics listed on its agenda during the meeting and made the necessary decisions regarding them.
