Hodeidah:An archaeological engineering team has conducted a field survey at the historic Al-Zaydiyah Castle in Hodeidah Governorate to prepare technical studies aimed at its restoration and preservation. The survey is focused on protecting the castle's remaining historical and heritage features.
According to Yemen News Agency, the team, led by Darwish Madhouni, Director of the General Organization of Antiquities and Museums branch in the governorate, evaluated the current condition of the castle and assessed the damage to its architectural components. They identified technical needs and restoration priorities to develop detailed restoration and maintenance proposals.
The team also visited the Sheikh Abu Al-Ghaith bin Jamil Mosque in the Deir Ata area, where they assessed its architectural and archaeological condition, discussing the measures needed to preserve its historic character. Madhouni emphasized that the visit's purpose is to prepare technical and structural studies for restoring and preserving both the castle and the mosque while safeguarding their heritage features.
The Director of Al-Zaydiyah District highlighted the importance of preserving the castle as a historic landmark and affirmed the local authority's readiness to collaborate with relevant agencies on restoration and protection efforts.
