Aden: Member of the Supreme Political Council, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, sent a cable of condolences and sympathy on the passing of Sheikh Habib Abdulrahman Jaafar Al-Mehdhar, recognizing his life of service to the nation and society.
According to Yemen News Agency, the message was sent to the deceased's brother, Sheikh Habib Muhammad Jaafar Al-Mehdhar, and his sons Salman, Ali, Muhammad, and Ammar. It extended to all academics, intellectuals, and Sufi scholars in Aden, Shabwa, and beyond. The cable praised Sheikh Mehdhar's contributions as a prominent linguistic academic at the University of Aden, particularly in the College of Higher Education.
Dr. Bin Habtoor emphasized Sheikh Mehdhar's advisory and cultural influence, noting his significant role in scientific, cultural, religious, and humanitarian forums. He was an influential figure at Aden University and on television, recognized for his involvement in the city's development.
The late scholar's efforts in advancing Aden University's activities and his leadership in the university's media work for over six years were also highlighted. His contributions to compiling the works and writings of the late scholar Ahmed bin Abdullah Kaiti Al-Mehdhar, founder of the Habban Association, were noted, underscoring his dedication to preserving scholarly legacies in Shabwa.
Dr. Bin Habtoor expressed the nation's loss of a prominent Adeni and Shabwani figure who supported Yemeni unity and its national and humanitarian goals. He conveyed condolences to the family and academic community, praying for God Almighty's mercy and forgiveness for Sheikh Mehdhar and strength for his family and students in their time of grief.
