Sanaa: The Board of Directors of the Information Technology Center, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hatem Al Daees, convened at Jibla University in Ibb province to discuss the performance, implementation of plans and programs, and future directions for enhancing digital transformation in higher education institutions.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included the Deputy of the Higher Education Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, board members from heads of public universities, representatives of private universities, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They reviewed the center's activity report covering the period from November 2025 to May 2026, which highlighted developmental programs and strategic plans for modernizing technical infrastructure and improving electronic systems' efficiency.
Attendees also heard from the center's Executive Director, Dr. Fouad Abdul Razzaq, on achievements, progress in automation and digital transformation projects, and efforts in training, capacity building, and developing systems to keep pace with modern developments. Additionally, a technical report was presented by the Assistant Director of the Center, Dr. Musa Gharab, focusing on software and technical achievements, implementation of previous decisions, and maintenance and operation work of electronic systems in universities.
Dr. Al Daees commended the center's leadership and staff for their efforts in developing automation and digital transformation projects, emphasizing the ministry's commitment to supporting the center's role in digital transformation strategy for higher education. He highlighted the center's importance in developing smart management and improving educational service quality.
Dr. Abdul Razzaq noted that the meeting coincides with the 19th anniversary of Al Mukalla's declaration in 2007, marking the establishment of the center. The gathering of academics and board members underscores the commitment to developing the educational process and sustaining the success of higher education institutions.
Dr. Abdullah Al Matari, President of Jibla University, expressed pride in hosting the meeting, highlighting the university's commitment to enhancing academic quality and developing the technical environment. Board members recognized the center's role in reducing corruption in admission procedures and result processing, affirming the electronic systems' contribution to transparency and efficiency in academic, administrative, and financial performance.
The meeting concluded with honoring the President of Jibla University with the Board of Directors shield for hosting the meeting. A twinning agreement was also signed between Jibla University and Al Mahwit University to enhance academic cooperation and expertise exchange.
