Sana'a: The Prophet's Birthday Football Tournament for the deaf organized by the General Federation for Deaf Sports, will kick off tomorrow at the Recreational Club Stadium in the capital Sana'a, in celebration of the Prophet's birthday for the year 1448 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the five-day tournament, held under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and with the support of the Youth and Sports Development Fund, will feature 44 players representing the Deaf Club in the capital, the Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Deaf in the capital, the Al-Amal School for the Deaf in Madhbah, and the Al-Mustaqbal School for the Deaf in Shu'ub.
The Chairman of the General Federation for Deaf Sports, Ahmed Al-Qamra, explained that the championship is being held to commemorate the Prophet's birthday and to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation among athletes with hearing disabilities. He emphasized the Federation's commitment to holding the sporting event on this great religious occasion to draw lessons and inspiration from the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
He noted that the championship is part of the Federation's plan and activities for the 2026 sports season, aimed at developing the abilities and discovering the talents of deaf athletes. He expressed his appreciation for the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Youth and Sports Development Fund in overcoming obstacles and continuing to support the Federation's efforts and activities, thus ensuring the integration of this important segment of society and the development of their athletic skills.
