Sana'a: The Public Works Office in the Capital Sana'a on Wednesday held a commemorative event for the 1447 AH Prophet's Birthday, attended by the Capital Secretary, Dr. Hamoud Abbad.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Abdulwahab Sharaf al-Din, Head of the Capital's Emergency Operations Room, emphasized the capital-wide celebration program spanning all sectors, offices, districts, and neighborhoods, culminating in the main central event on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal.
Dr. Sharaf al-Din highlighted the responsibilities of Public Works leaders and staff in preparing, organizing, and decorating the city to reflect the significance of the occasion in the hearts of Yemenis. He stressed that the Prophet's Birthday is an opportunity to reinforce Islamic values, ethics, and adherence to the Prophet's teachings in daily life.
He noted that this year, the Arab and Islamic nations face exceptional challenges, marked by global oppression and the threat of imperialist and Zionist schemes, and praised Yemen's leadership for its steadfast support of the Palestinian people in Gaza. He called for internal unity and vigilance to thwart enemy conspiracies.
The event featured presentations by cultural activist Dr. Hamoud Al-Ahnoumi on the Prophet's life and its lessons, emphasizing Yemenis' historic bond with him and the importance of annual commemorations for spiritual and educational reinforcement.
Dr. al-Ahnoumi stressed that celebrating the Prophet's Birthday is a virtuous act pleasing to God and His Messenger, inspiring believers, and defying the enemies and hypocrites. He linked the Prophet's mission to contemporary struggles and highlighted his achievements in establishing the Islamic state and defeating the Persian and Roman empires.
The celebration included poetry, religious chants praising the Prophet, and a purposeful theatrical sketch, attended by senior officials, directors, and staff from the Public Works Office and its district branches.
