China: China's foreign exchange market generally maintained its stability last February, despite escalating geopolitical tensions and increased volatility in international financial markets.
According to Yemen News Agency, China's Xinhua News Agency quoted the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) on Tuesday as saying that China's foreign exchange market recorded transactions amounting to 2.6 trillion US dollars in February, while the total cross-border receipts and payments by non-banking sectors reached 1.2 trillion dollars.
Official data showed that non-banking sectors recorded a net cross-border capital inflow of 35.6 billion dollars in February, while banks achieved a surplus in foreign exchange settlement of 42.8 billion dollars.
SAFE added that China's externally oriented economy is experiencing steady overall development, and that the foreign exchange market remains active. It also showed that companies' willingness to settle foreign currencies slightly declined, while demand for purchasing foreign currencies remained generally stable, with market expectations remaining steady.
