Beijing: China's total foreign exchange reserves rose to $3.3991 trillion at the end of January 2026, marking an increase of $41.2 billion, or 1.23%, compared to the end of December of the previous year.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday, citing official data from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), that the US dollar index fell in January. Meanwhile, prices of major global financial assets generally rose, influenced by fiscal and monetary policies and market expectations in major economies.
SAFE explained that the combined effects of exchange rate fluctuations and asset price changes contributed to the increase in China's foreign exchange reserves last month. It added that the Chinese economy continued to register steady and improving performance, enhancing development resilience, which provides strong support for efforts to maintain the stability of the foreign exchange reserves.
