China’s Industrial Output Sees 5.4% Growth in First Five Months

Beijing: China's value-added industrial output increased by 5.4 percent year-on-year during the first five months of this year. Official data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday indicated significant growth in the industrial sector. According to Yemen News Agency, industrial output grew by 4.5 percent year-on-year in May alone, while rising by 0.4 percent compared to the previous month. Industrial output is an indicator used to measure the activity of major enterprises whose annual main business revenue exceeds 20 million yuan, approximately 2.94 million US dollars. In terms of specific sectors, the value-added output of the mining sector saw a 2.3 percent year-on-year increase during May. The manufacturing sector experienced a growth of 4.4 percent, while the electricity, heating, gas, and water production and supply sector also recorded an increase of 7.6 percent.
