Tunis:The logistics sector in China maintained its upward momentum in September, as indicated by a rise in the logistics prosperity index to 51.5 percent, marking an increase of 0.6 percentage points from August.
According to Yemen News Agency, this index has remained above the expansion threshold for five consecutive months, driven by enhanced demand and growth in transportation and logistics activities. Data from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing revealed that ten out of twelve sub-indices saw month-on-month increases, signifying improved performance and ongoing recovery in the sector.
The new orders index reached 51.2 percent, climbing by 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, and marking its seventh consecutive month of growth. This increase reflects a rising demand for logistics services. Additionally, the peak consumption season contributed to increased business volume in transportation; indices for total business volume in railway transport, road transport, and express delivery grew by 0.5, 0.8, and 0.3 percentage points, respectively, compared to August.
Corporate operational efficiency experienced notable improvement as the equipment utilization rate index returned to the expansion zone for the first time this year. The inventory turnover index also continued its rise for the fifth consecutive month, aligning with better coordination among production, supply, and sales within industrial chains.
He Hui, Vice President of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, noted that the sector's prosperity index remaining in the expansion zone, along with increases in total business volume and new orders indices, indicates a positive interaction between economic policies and market dynamics. He highlighted that policies aimed at boosting consumption, improving livelihoods, and supporting economic growth have led to increased demand for logistics services.
Looking ahead, the business activity expectation index for the logistics sector rose to 56.2 percent in September, up by 1.8 percentage points from the previous month, indicating growing corporate optimism about market prospects and confidence in business operations and investment readiness for the fourth quarter.
