Entisaf Organization Condemns Saudi Attacks on Civilians in Yemen

Taiz:The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights has condemned recent attacks by Saudi forces on Al-Zahra Girls' School and a health center in the Al-Qahaf sub-district of Jabal Habashi District, Taiz Governorate. The organization highlighted that the bloodshed involving women and children underscores the severity of Saudi Arabia's targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.

According to Yemen News Agency, the organization described these attacks as grave incidents, emphasizing the direct threat posed to the lives of female students, patients, and staff, and highlighting the undermining of children's right to safe education.

The statement detailed that Saudi raids have resulted in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to fifteen others, with attacks affecting schools, villages, roads, and civilian homes in the Al-Haramiya and Milat Al-Dabab areas of Jabal Habashi District. It reported injuries to two women, the destruction of livestock, and damage to property. Additionally, nine members of a family in Khabb wa ash-Sha'af District, Al-Jawf Governorate, were killed, most of whom were women and children. Further casualties were reported in the Qahr Bani Al-Harith area of Baqim, Saada Governorate, where a boy died and a man and woman were injured by Saudi fire.

The statement stressed the importance of verifying compliance with international humanitarian law, focusing on the principles of distinction and proportionality. It reiterated that educational and medical institutions and civilian objects are protected under international law, and it called for actions to safeguard civilians, provide necessary care, and uphold their rights to education and healthcare.

Entisaf Organization warned that without effective investigations and accountability, Saudi aggression would continue to exacerbate the suffering of Yemeni families, increase the risk of recurring violations, and leave lasting psychological and social impacts, particularly on women and children.

The organization demanded accountability for the violations and crimes committed over the past 12 years and called for reparation for the victims. It urged the United Nations, the international community, and relevant organizations to take decisive action to protect civilians, implement measures to stop the aggression and blockade, and ensure the safety of Yemeni people beyond mere statements of condemnation.
