Beijing: China has imposed additional anti-dumping duties of up to 30.1% on rubber products from Canada and Japan, effective Saturday, for a period of five years.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Friday that the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated in a press release that this action followed the conclusion of an anti-dumping investigation launched by the ministry on September 14, 2024, into imports of halogenated butyl rubber from both countries.
The statement indicated that the investigation concluded that the product was being dumped in the Chinese market, causing actual harm to the domestic industry.
It added that Beijing will impose duties ranging from 15% to 30.1% on Japanese companies, while the duty imposed on Canadian companies will be 13.8%.
It is worth noting that "halogenated butyl rubber" is mainly used in the manufacture of inner tubes, heat-resistant pipes, conveyor belts, and pharmaceutical bottle stoppers, as well as adhesives and sealing materials.
