Sanaa: The Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Development, in collaboration with its associated institutions and agencies, organized a commemorative event on Wednesday to honor the anniversary of Imam Zaid bin Ali's martyrdom. The event was held under the theme "Insight and Struggle."
According to Yemen News Agency, Minister of Civil Service Dr. Khalid Al-Hawali highlighted the significance of commemorating Imam Zaid's uprising against injustice, oppression, and corruption. He emphasized that Imam Zaid's movement aimed to reform society by adhering to the teachings of the Quran, embodying values of steadfastness, perseverance, and sacrifice.
Dr. Al-Hawali stressed the importance of drawing lessons from Imam Zaid's life and revolution. He advocated for the nation to promote justice, confront oppression, correct misconceptions, and enhance public awareness to tackle contemporary challenges.
The event saw the attendance of notable figures such as the ministry's Undersecretary for Evaluation and Training, Al-Azzi Al-Hattami; Undersecretary for Information Technology, Ibrahim Al-Dar; Dean of the National Institute of Administrative Sciences, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qatabari; and Deputy Chairman of the Social Security and Pensions Authority, Abdul Salam Al-Kahlani, among other officials.
The minister called for strengthening social cohesion and expanding awareness and culture based on Quranic teachings. He urged for continued efforts to address the challenges facing the country.
During the event, Al-Hawali linked Imam Zaid's uprising to the movement led by Imam Hussein bin Ali at Karbala, asserting that both sought to reform the Muslim community by reinforcing adherence to Quranic principles. He also mentioned Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, leader of the Houthi movement, as a current figure continuing that reformist path, supporting the oppressed and opposing the United States, Israel, and their allies.
Salah Al-Salami, head of the Guidance Sector in the Liberation Directorate, also spoke at the event. He reviewed Imam Zaid's life, portraying him as a scholar and reformer committed to justice, virtue, and resistance against wrongdoing. Al-Salami encouraged participants to draw inspiration from Imam Zaid's life and his uprising's objectives to enhance awareness and resist oppression, citing him as a model of moral courage and dedication to reform.
