Sana'a: The coffee purchasing season was launched on Tuesday in Al-Jabin District, Raymah Governorate, targeting specialty local coffee produced by farmers in the district, in cooperation with the agricultural sector, the Agricultural Cooperative Union branch, and the Al-Jabin Agricultural Cooperative Society.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative is being implemented by Qahwat Al-Qimmah Foundation. The initiative aims to encourage farmers to expand coffee cultivation, improve production, and promote the crop in local and international markets.
Engineer Mohammed Othman, head of the Union of Coffee Producers' Associations, mentioned that the initiative targets purchasing 50 tons of fully ripe specialty and red coffee from the 2026 harvest for export. This initiative supports farmers in developing the crop as a key contributor to Yemen's economy. He emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts among official bodies and agricultural associations to increase coffee production and marketing while raising awareness of its importance to farmers' livelihoods.
Al-Jabin Agricultural Cooperative Society Chairman Abdulrahman Al-Adani noted the district's diverse coffee varieties and the strict standards applied to harvesting, sorting, drying, and storage. Ali Al-Hamzi, a representative of Qahwat Al-Qimmah Foundation, confirmed the foundation's readiness to purchase this season's crop, improve its quality, and market Raymah coffee internationally under its geographical identity, thereby opening new markets for the region's coffee.
