Brussels: Jabal Al-Mahwit: Field work is continuing in Jabal Al-Mahwit District on the initiative to expand and pave the Hisn Ghayl road in the Bilad Ghayl isolate, implemented by citizens through community efforts, under the supervision of the Multi-Purpose Cooperative Association in the district, and with support from the Central Interventions Unit for Emergency Development and the Executive Unit.
According to Yemen News Agency, the head of the community committee, Wahban Ali, stated that the completion rate of the initiative stands at 30 percent, with 300 meters of stone paving completed at a width of four meters, along with the expansion of a number of narrow paths stretching 250 meters. He pointed out that the initiative aims to pave and expand one kilometer of rugged paths, contributing to improving citizen mobility and facilitating their access to their areas. He noted that work is continuing at a high pace despite the high implementation costs, especially regarding stone cutting and transport, and the provision of fuel and oils necessary for operating equipment.
Wahban confirmed that the Executive Unit contributed a "backhoe" for excavation and expansion works, while citizens covered the costs of fuel, oils, and driver wages. The Central Interventions Unit for Emergency Development provided 227 bags of cement, and supplied a "compressor" and 250 liters of diesel for its operation. He highlighted the importance of the initiative in improving the road and alleviating the suffering of citizens, urging continued support and assistance to complete the targeted works, contributing to road improvement and enhancing the movement of agricultural products between the area and other parts of the district.
It is worth noting that the first phase of the initiative was implemented last year, including 200 meters of stone paving at a width of four meters, supported by the Central Interventions Unit for Emergency Development, which provided 226 bags of cement, helping to prepare the road and complete the paving and expansion of the current phase.
