Al hodeidah: The Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance in Al Hodeidah Governorate has completed the first phase of the project to maintain and rehabilitate streets damaged by floods in Al Hodeidah city, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund.
According to Yemen News Agency, the first phase of the project, which cost 250 million riyals, targeted the maintenance of main and secondary roads in the districts of Al-Mina, Al-Hawak, and Al-Hali. The aim was to enhance the efficiency of the road network, facilitate traffic movement, and preserve the city's urban appearance.
The Director of the Executive Unit in the governorate, Zaid Al-Murtada, explained that the technical teams completed all works scheduled for the first phase in accordance with the approved standards and specifications. He noted that the project is part of the governorate's plan to rehabilitate infrastructure damaged by torrential rains.
For his part, the Projects Director at the unit, Basem Qahtan, stated that the works included laying asphalt layers and repairing potholes and cracks in several vital streets, including Jizan, Al-Mina, Palestine, 7 July, and Musa streets. He added that leveling and treatment of both large and small asphalt sections were completed across a number of strategic routes.
Meanwhile, the Renovation Project Supervisor, Engineer Shawqi Al-Salwi, confirmed the completion of maintenance and filling of about 1,800 potholes in various targeted streets. The works also included addressing water drainage in pothole areas on Al-Mina Street and repairing cracks on Corniche, Al-Katib, Al-Khamsin, and Al-Arbaeen streets.
He pointed out that the project also included deep rehabilitation works on 7 July Street extending to Sana'a Street, as well as completing asphalt paving on Corniche, Al-Tahrir, and Shamsan streets, ensuring the sustainability of the roads and the safety of their users.
