Conclusion of Anti-Money Laundering Procedures Course at General Postal Authority

Sana'a: Today in Sana'a, the second training course on anti-money laundering and terrorist financing procedures for counter staff and customer service employees at the General Postal Authority and Postal Savings concluded. It was organized by the National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Committee.

According to Yemen News Agency, over four days, the course aimed to equip 45 participants with skills and knowledge on anti-money laundering procedures, how to limit them, their risks, and the legal nature of money laundering crimes.

At the closing ceremony, the Deputy Director General of the Postal Authority for Regional Affairs, Ali Mazrou', explained that this course and the previous one on combating and limiting money laundering are part of the Authority's plan to develop its financial services to enhance transparency and compliance across all post offices. He urged participants to apply the skills and knowledge they acquired in their practical work to activate oversight and detect money laundering at the Authority before it occurs, noting the developments Yemen is witnessing in financial services provision despite the aggression and siege it faces.

The Executive Director of the National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Committee, Judge Rashid Al-Munifi, emphasized the importance of strictly applying anti-money laundering procedures through postal counters and customer service to protect the Authority from money laundering attempts. He explained that the course equipped participants with skills in money laundering and procedures to limit and detect it before it occurs, considering the course an essential part of activating anti-money laundering efforts in government institutions, especially at the General Postal Authority.

It is worth noting that a total of 77 trainees from the Ministry of Communications, the General Telecommunications Corporation, and the General Postal Authority have been trained in anti-money laundering procedures.
