Sanaa: The National Supreme Authority for Combating Corruption organized on Sunday a cultural event to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him).
According to Yemen News Agency, the event was attended by the Authority's Deputy Chairman, Redan Al-Mutawakel, board members Eng. Harith Al-Omari, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sheikh, and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Kameem, as well as the Secretary-General of the Authority, Ahmed Atef. During the event, researcher in Qur'anic culture Yahya Qasim Abu Awadha reviewed lessons drawn from the anniversary of Imam Ali's martyrdom and the significance of commemorating this occasion to draw inspiration and guidance that can strengthen the nation in confronting the tyrants and criminals of the modern era and global arrogance represented by the United States and the Zionist entity.
Abu Awadha highlighted the historical implications of this occasion in Islamic history and the emergence of tyrannical forces beginning with the Umayyads and continuing to the present day. He also discussed Imam Ali's life, his upbringing in the household of Prophethood, his status and closeness to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), his position in the Holy Qur'an and the sayings of the Prophet.
He explained that today's confrontation with the enemies of the nation is a continuation of that history and tragedy, noting the state of weakness, submission, and decline the nation has reached, which requires adherence to the Muhammadan path and the approach of Ahl al-Bayt and the guiding figures of Islam. Abu Awadha considered this anniversary an important occasion to reflect on the deviation, misconceptions, and false beliefs that led to that tragedy-one whose effects the Islamic nation continues to experience to this day.
