Hodeida: Deputy Minister of Information Dr. Omar al-Bakhiti reviewed the experience of localizing dairy production in the Tihama Coast of Hodeida governorate and explored ways to enhance local production. This initiative is part of the Ministry's effort to increase the role of media in highlighting and documenting successful models of Yemeni production value chains.
According to Yemen News Agency, during his visit to the United Dairy and Food Industries Company "Nana," Dr. al-Bakhiti was accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Engineer Mohammed al-Qahoum, and the Head of the Television Sector at Yemen TV, Mohammed Abu Talib. The Deputy Minister learned about the production lines and mechanisms used in manufacturing dairy products, emphasizing reliance on local raw materials.
The delegation, which included directors from the Minister of Information's office and other media and public relations officials, received a detailed explanation from the factory's management and specialists. They discussed the mechanism for receiving raw milk from cooperative societies in the Tihama coastal region and the various stages of the dairy sector's value chain, from production to marketing.
The visitors were informed about the process of collecting milk from producers and suppliers, the delivery mechanism to the factory, and the rigorous laboratory testing that shipments undergo to ensure quality. Coordination mechanisms with cooperatives to support farmers and producers were also highlighted, reflecting the government's directives aimed at localizing and developing the dairy industry.
The explanation provided included details on the daily quantities received and the modern processing and marketing mechanisms designed to support Tihama products. The aim is to connect consumers with locally produced goods, transform milk from a raw material into a high-quality food product, and implement future expansion plans for receiving centers and developing local manufacturing to achieve a sustainable national market entirely reliant on domestic production.
During the visit, Dr. al-Bakhiti praised the level achieved by the dairy industry localization project in the Tihama coast. He highlighted it as a productive and developmental model that reflects the local sector's ability to build integrated value chains linking farmers, producers, and consumers.
He regarded the cooperative project as a shining example of national will to achieve self-sufficiency and a testament to the Yemeni product's ability to compete and excel in the local market. This success is attributed to the combined efforts of farmers and the industrial sector. He also commended the company's national role in supporting the economy, bolstering food security, and providing job opportunities for the region's residents.
Dr. al-Bakhiti emphasized the importance of successful national production projects receiving increasing media attention. This aims to showcase their economic and developmental impact, raise public awareness of the importance of supporting local products, and back initiatives that contribute to achieving self-sufficiency and revitalizing the national economy.
