Dhamar Launches Fayoumi Chicken Breeding Center at Agricultural Cooperative Society

Dhamar:The local authority of Al-Manar District, in collaboration with the Al-Manar Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Society, has launched the 'Fayoumi' local chicken breeding project. This initiative is part of the value chain programs aimed at supporting national products, fostering economic empowerment, and enhancing self-sufficiency.

According to Yemen News Agency, Hamoud Sabaa, Secretary-General of the Al-Manar District Local Council and Head of the Society, stated that the inauguration of the center represents a significant development milestone. The project is expected to improve household living standards, enhance food security, economically empower rural families, and restore the Yemeni countryside's historic reputation for livestock rearing.

Eng. Hilal Al-Jashari, Poultry and Egg Value Chain Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized the project's role in boosting food security and economic empowerment through the support of local products. The project employs circular economy principles and a 'live productive loan' system and is implemented in collaboration with the central propagation center of the 'Khairat Biladi' Association. This integrated system ensures production continuity and resource renewal.

The project involves raising chicken flocks at the association's propagation center, progressing through production and hatching stages while maintaining the genetic stock within the association. It concludes with distributing the 'second generation' of chickens to rural families as part of economic empowerment programs, creating a sustainable economic cycle.

Abdulwahab Elayah, Head of the Governorate Branch of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, highlighted the project's steady progress in line with directives from the revolutionary and political leadership and the Ministry of Agriculture. The Union branch is committed to replicating these successes and ensuring that technical and production support reaches all beneficiaries across Yemen's villages and rural areas.

Engineer Mohammed Al-Barbari, Bunyan Foundation coordinator in Dhamar governorate, described the project as a significant economic initiative that promotes work, productivity, and self-reliance. He affirmed the Foundation's continued support for the association's efforts in value chain and economic empowerment programs, contributing to a productive society capable of achieving sustainable food self-sufficiency.
