Muscat: The branch of the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges in Dhamar Governorate began on Saturday implementing expansion works on the Dhamar-Sana'a road, the Rasabah section (dual carriageway), Phase Three, with a length of three kilometers and 700 meters, at a cost of 250 million riyals, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Director of the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges branch, Engineer Mohammed Al-Madani, explained that the project aims to complete the expansion of the Dhamar-Sana'a road and reduce traffic accidents on this strategic route. He noted that the first and second phases of the project in the Rasabah section included the expansion of five kilometers and 300 meters, at a cost of 620 million riyals, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund.
Al-Madani added that during the current year, the branch implemented a series of works across the governorate, including the rehabilitation of Al-Sharq City Market with asphalt paving and surfacing over a length of 1,600 meters at a cost of 300 million riyals. Maintenance works are currently underway on the Al-Sharq City-Utmah-Al-Dalil road, the Al-Mahallah-Souq Al-Thulouth section, with a length of 15 kilometers, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund, as well as maintenance of the Ma'bar Zarajah-Al-Qabtain-Al-Najlah-Al-Hamra road, with a length of 30 kilometers (Phase One), through joint funding from a community initiative and the Road Maintenance Fund.
He pointed out that the corporation is also carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation works on the Al-Sharq City-Al-Jumu'ah-Sitran road, with a length of 25 kilometers, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund, in addition to implementing a project to expand the axle-load scale, and rehabilitating and refurbishing Daf Market in Jahran District, at a cost of 180 million riyals, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund.
Al-Madani commended the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the leadership of the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges, the Road Maintenance Fund, and the local authority for their attention to maintaining and rehabilitating roads in the governorate. Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Roads Authority branch, Engineer Bandar Salah, stated that the corporation is preparing to begin asphalt paving works on the northwestern ring road, north of the sports stadium, with a length of 1,700 meters and a width of seven meters, at a cost of 180 million riyals, funded by the local authority in the governorate.
He indicated that the project includes excavation, concrete, embankment, and asphalt works, aiming to reduce traffic congestion within the city and divert vehicle and heavy transport movement to the ring road.
