Dhamar:A training course on establishing a system for university centers commenced on Sunday at Dhamar University. The program, organized by the university's Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, encompasses strategic planning, operational management, classification, and alignment with the labor market.
According to Yemen News Agency, the two-day course is designed to provide academic and administrative leaders with the necessary skills and tools for planning, operations, monitoring, and evaluation. It aims to link performance to measurable indicators, thereby enhancing the development and performance of the centers' services and programs to meet the needs of both the university and the labor market.
During the opening ceremony, University Rector Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi stressed the significance of creating an integrated system for university centers through clear institutional planning. He underscored the necessity for roles that align with the university's and labor market's needs to improve the centers' efficiency and effectiveness.
The event saw attendance from the university's vice rectors, including Dr. Adel Al-Ansi for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdulkarim Zabibah for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai for Student Affairs. Dr. Essam Wasel, Assistant to the University President for Centers Affairs, highlighted that enhancing the centers' performance necessitates an institutional framework rooted in planning, organization, and defined mandates, as well as the optimal use of resources to strengthen their roles and services.
Dr. Walid Dahya, Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, outlined that the course addresses critical topics such as the formulation of institutional vision, mission, and values. It also covers strategic analysis, goal setting based on scientific standards, and the preparation of operational plans, including translating goals into actionable programs and initiatives.
The program additionally focuses on performance indicators, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, classification of university centers, and their levels of institutional maturity. It emphasizes aligning their services and programs with labor market needs and establishing partnerships with relevant stakeholders while introducing guidelines for drafting internal regulations for university centers.
