Dhamar: The Capital Secretariat volleyball team was crowned champion of the Martyr of the Nation Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Mawlid Cup, after defeating the host team from Dhamar.
According to Yemen News Agency, the match was organized by the Steering Committee of the Yemen Volleyball Federation, in coordination with the Dhamar branch of the federation and the Governorate’s Office of Youth and Sports, with support and sponsorship from Dhamar General Hospital Authority and the Cleaning and Improvement Fund. The game took place at the indoor hall of Dhamar Sports City.
In a competitive match, the Capital Secretariat team won the first set 26-24. The Dhamar team claimed the second set 25-23, forcing a decisive third set, which was narrowly won by the Capital Secretariat team 25-23, thanks to their players’ experience.
At the conclusion of the match, the Head of the Steering Committee of the Yemen Volleyball Federation, Waleed Faye’a, along with Tayseer Rawiyah, Director of the Youth Office in the Governorate, Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshaki, Head of Dhamar General Hospital Authority, Mohammed Al-Awash, Director of the Sports City, Bilal Al-Sa’ari, Secretary-General of the Yemen Volleyball Federation, Khaled Al-Batool, member of the Steering Committee, and the heads of the Volleyball Federation branches in the Capital Secretariat, Dhamar, Mujahid Al-Ansie and Mohammed Hadi, respectively, honored the Capital Secretariat team with the Martyr of the Nation Cup and gold medals.
The Dhamar team received silver medals. Afterward, the Head of the Federation’s Steering Committee and the captain of the Capital Secretariat team presented the championship cup to the family of the late Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Mawlid, which was received on their behalf by Nidal Al-Mawlid.
