Al-Hawban:The Director General of the Public Electricity Corporation, Dr. Mishal Al-Rifi, has assessed the damage inflicted on the commercial Al-Barq power station in Al-Hawban, Taiz Governorate, following an airstrike by Saudi-led coalition aircraft.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Al-Rifi, along with Deputy Directors General for Distribution and Generation, Engineers Mohammed Al-Shaibani and Tariq Al-Aghbari, received a detailed briefing from station officials. The attack resulted in severe damage to equipment and generation components, particularly impacting the solar panels that supply one megawatt of power to Al-Hawban's neighborhoods. This has led to a temporary suspension of service in parts of the station.
Dr. Al-Rifi emphasized that the targeting of infrastructure and service facilities demonstrates a deliberate intent to exacerbate the suffering of citizens. He assured that despite the damage, the Corporation remains committed to providing services. He reassured the people of Al-Hawban and Taiz that electricity services will continue, with alternative generation sources from both public and private sectors ensuring a steady supply. Dr. Al-Rifi reaffirmed the Corporation's dedication to expanding service delivery and electricity supply, promising to utilize all available resources to restore electric power across Taiz.
