Al-mahwit: A meeting held on Saturday in Al-Mahwit Governorate discussed the current status of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, the level of institutional performance, the quality of services provided, and the state of implementation of plans and programs.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting included the Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in the governorate, Eng. Abdulghani Al-Qatmah, and a ministerial team from the Main Planning Unit at the Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Water, headed by Wasamah Al-Araiqi. The team also comprised members Zaid Al-Kahlani and Jamil Al-Aghbari, along with the Ministry's Director General of Human Resources, Mohammed Jundah. They assessed the level of readiness and response to emergency plans and the effectiveness of sub-planning units.
During the meeting, Wasamah Al-Araiqi, the Head of the Ministerial Team and Director General of Planning at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, reviewed the results of the field assessment of the Corporation's planning and emergency team's performance and its level of response to emergency situations, in accordance with the ministerially approved evaluation form.
Al-Kahlani, a member of the ministerial team and Director General of Water Sector Reform at the Ministry, emphasized the importance of engaging with emergency plans and working to improve the Corporation's administrative, financial, and technical performance.
Eng. Al-Qatmah, the Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in the governorate, affirmed the commitment to brief the ministerial committee on the Corporation's plans, programs, and projects being implemented across the governorate's districts to improve water and sanitation services. He highlighted transparency in performance and the evaluation of implemented plans and programs.
He noted that the Al-Mahwit City Water Project is a vital and strategic initiative that meets citizens' needs and helps alleviate suffering amid water scarcity. He outlined challenges facing the project, including damage caused by lightning strikes and recurrent technical failures.
Eng. Al-Qatmah expressed hope for support from the Ministry's leadership to secure the necessary technical and operational requirements, enabling the Corporation to continue providing services to citizens as required.
The meeting, attended by the Director General of Planning, Statistics, and Follow-up at the Public Electricity Corporation, Dhaifallah Al-Habl, the Deputy Director of the Local Water Corporation in the governorate, Abdul Latif Al-Akhram, and several relevant department heads, concluded with recommendations aimed at improving performance, enhancing planning and emergency efficiency, and addressing existing challenges.
