Sana'a: A meeting in Sana'a Governorate today, chaired by the Governorate's Deputy for the Investment Sector, Yahya Jumaan, discussed the status of plans implemented in several locations in Bani Matar District, as well as the evaluation plan for the proposed new industrial areas in Sana'a Governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which included the Deputy Head of the General Authority for Endowments for the Investment and Resource Development Sector, Dr. Mohammed Al-Somali, the official of Public Works in the governorate, Engineer Mohammed Ashia, the Director of Planning at the General Authority for Lands, Survey, and Urban Planning, Engineer Abdul Ghani Al-Ansi, and the Deputy Director of the branch of the Land Authority in the governorate, Engineer Ahmed Al-Yahiri, reviewed the implications of changing the nature of several areas from residential to industrial, as well as the environmental, social, and economic impacts on the region.
The meeting touched upon the difficulties arising from the overlap of different types of industries in industrial areas, and the importance of classifying them and allocating each area according to the type of industry.
The meeting approved not granting any permits in the new industrial areas except based on an investment certificate, with the necessity of considering the type of industry and its impact on others.
During the meeting, attended by the Directors of Investment at the Sana'a Land Authority, Akram Al-Haijah, and Planning, Abdu Farhan, the Deputy Head of the Chamber of Commerce in Sana'a Governorate, Hashim Al-Sawari, the Director of the Chamber, Mutar Al-Matari, and the Head of the Pharmaceutical Sector at the Chamber, Ibrahim Al-Hamli, the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts and activating the one-stop shop mechanism to reduce randomness in the use of sites designated for industrial areas.
He stressed the necessity of stopping all new constructions and building works in the proposed sites until the plans are finally approved and circulated.
