Sanaa: The Chairman of the National Human Rights Authority, Ali Taysir, met on Monday with the President of the National Union of Disabled Associations, Dr. Abdullah Bunyan, to discuss mechanisms and ways to strengthen cooperation and partnership between the two sides in support of the rights and causes of persons with disabilities.
According to Yemen News Agency, the two sides agreed to hold a regular monthly meeting to follow up on shared issues and programs. During the meeting, the Chairman of the Authority affirmed his readiness to stand by the Union and support efforts that serve the interests of persons with disabilities, stressing that serving this group is a religious duty before being a national responsibility.
He also emphasized the need for international organizations operating in Yemen to recognize the Union's status and its active role, noting that civil society represents the true stakeholder of the community, and that the coming stage is one of consolidating human rights from a purely faith-based perspective.
For his part, the President of the Union appreciated the Authority's efforts in addressing issues concerning persons with disabilities, affirming the Union's keenness to build an effective partnership with the Authority.
