Sana'a: A joint meeting of the Economic Empowerment Committees in Sana'a Governorate and the governorate office of the Zakat Authority was held on Sunday, chaired by Governor Abdulbasit Al-Hadi, to discuss the mechanism for implementing economic empowerment projects in accordance with the framework prepared by the Zakat Office.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which included Administrative Board Member Mahyoub Mahdi and directors of the Zakat Office Abdulwahab Al-Tuhaif, Social Affairs Director Majed Al-Ghaili, Economy Director Fahd Al-Gharbani, Agriculture Sector Engineer Ali Al-Qairi, Public Relations Director Ammar Al-Kol, and Economic Empowerment Director Mohammed Al-Qurafi, reviewed the distribution of projects identified based on beneficiaries' needs arising from the districts themselves and the suitability of the local environment to ensure their success.
The meeting also discussed a number of approved projects in the fields of sheep, cattle, and beekeeping; caravans; solar energy; and sewing workshops related to urban areas and agricultural reserves, as well as the necessary steps to complete the associated value chains.
Discussions further addressed the mechanism for prioritizing empowerment projects in the governorate, to be implemented through the branch of the Zakat Authority in the governorate, in addition to projects studied since the beginning of the year that will be carried out through multiple entities, including the governorate's Zakat Authority and the National Authority for the Development of Small and Micro Enterprises, based on value chain priorities, added value, market demand, and donor needs.
During the meeting, Governor Al-Hadi stressed the importance of integrating efforts among the relevant authorities to expand economic empowerment projects aimed at supporting productive families, ensuring their success, and achieving the broader objective of enhancing food security across all districts of the governorate.
