Discussion on Ways to Enhance Agricultural Education, Link Outcomes with Field Reality

Sana’a: A meeting held today in Sana’a chaired by the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Ammar Al-Karim, discussed ways to enhance agricultural education and develop its curricula to meet the needs of the agricultural sector and be linked to practical and field reality.



According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, attended by the Ministry’s Undersecretaries for the Fisheries Sector, Dr. Fawzi Al-Saghir, and the Livestock Sector, Dr. Abdulraouf Al-Shawkani, along with the President of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak Al-Qayli, and the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Dr. Adel Al-Washli, emphasized the importance of encouraging rural youth to enroll in agricultural education. The focus was on qualifying them scientifically and practically to serve their local communities.



The meeting addressed the importance of supporting initiatives that contribute to student care and providing an encouraging educational environment, which positively reflects on the development of the agricultural sector and achieving food security.



During the discussions, the Acting Minister emphasized the importance of giving top priority to developing agricultural education, contributing to the preparation of qualified cadres capable of working and producing in the field. He highlighted the need for a joint committee between the Ministry and universities to review and update study curricula in colleges of agriculture, ensuring they combine theoretical and practical aspects and keep pace with scientific and technical changes.



The Acting Minister urged directing the educational process to meet field realities and enhancing student training to gain practical experience. This approach aims to change misconceptions related to agricultural production and shift towards modern concepts based on research and realistic results.



The meeting concluded with proposals and recommendations emphasizing the activation of partnerships between academic institutions and the agricultural sector. The goal is to redirect agricultural education to align more closely with the actual needs of the agricultural reality in Yemen.
