Taiz: The Disabled Rehabilitation and Care Fund's Taiz province branch has initiated the fourth phase of distributing wheelchairs and assistive devices for individuals with disabilities. This phase, launched on Wednesday, aims to benefit 300 individuals by providing essential tools such as wheelchairs, medical mattresses, walkers, and crutches.
According to Yemen News Agency, the launch event featured notable attendees, including Deputy Governor Fouad Sinan and mobilization official Mohamed al-Khalidi. Hamas al-Habari, the social unit official, underscored the importance of supporting people with disabilities, emphasizing it as both a religious and humanitarian duty. He highlighted the resilience of those with disabilities and reiterated the commitment of the state's leadership to their care and support.
Al-Habari also stressed the significance of enhancing humanitarian efforts, particularly with the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, a period marked by mercy and charity. He called upon businessmen, the private sector, and philanthropists to support initiatives aimed at aiding people with disabilities.
Mohamedh Othman, Director of the Disabled Rehabilitation and Care Fund in Taiz, elaborated that this phase is part of the Fund's continuous efforts to alleviate the suffering of people with disabilities and promote their societal integration. He detailed that 300 wheelchairs of various types would be distributed based on a field assessment of needs, prioritizing the most impoverished.
Othman also noted that by the end of 2025, the Fund's database recorded 15,507 cases of registered individuals with disabilities in Taiz province. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to expand services and provide necessary assistive devices despite facing challenges.
Hala Naaman, representing blind individuals with disabilities, commended the leadership, local authorities, and the Fund's branch for their dedication in addressing the needs of this community.
