Divine Scholar Sayyed Badr al-Din al-Houthi’s Enduring Legacy of Faith and Knowledge

General

Sanaa: The departure of divine scholars constitutes a heavy loss to the fields of knowledge and action, and at the forefront of the nation's figures who left impressions in the contemporary history of Yemen, the late divine scholar Badr al-Din Amir al-Din al-Houthi, whose life represented a journey full of intellectual giving, faith-based jihad, and sacrifice for the sake of elevating the word of truth.

According to Yemen News Agency, the scholar al-Houthi lived a long life, dedicating his life to serving religion, consolidating Quranic awareness, reforming society, and standing firmly in the face of challenges and unjust policies that attempted to erase the faith identity and keep the nation ignorant, forming thereby a religious and moral reference that exceeded the local scope to the horizons of the Islamic world.

It is not strange for the scholar al-Houthi, who grew up in an authentic scientific environment from whose spring he drank his first knowledge, his love for knowledge and piety and his dedication to the acquisition of jurisprudential and linguistic knowledge, and his witnessed excellence and his extraordinary mentality, until he became one of the most prominent references of religion and figures of jurisprudence and interpretation in Yemen and the Islamic world.

He was distinguished by a piercing and deep view of religious texts, and knowledge to him was not merely texts memorized in lines, but rather starting points and principles moving in practical reality to change people's lives and spread justice, and thanks to this vision, hundreds of scholars, researchers, and preachers graduated at his hands, who carried the torch of enlightenment and awareness in various Yemeni regions, continuing the march on his footsteps in teaching and social reform.

The life of the scholar al-Houthi did not isolate itself from the nation's concerns and its pains; as his journey was characterized by continuous jihad and confronting injustice in all its forms, and he was a truthful voice proclaiming the truth in the time of silence, the stage imposed on him the responsibility of the leading scholar to protect the vulnerable and confront tyranny; and he stood strongly against the hegemony of the arrogance forces "America and Israel", and their destructive plans that target the nation, its religion, and its doctrine.

The solid jihadist stance of the mujahid scholar al-Houthi manifested in his founding of the Quranic project which was led by his son, the martyr leader Sayyed Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi, where the late scholar represented the intellectual incubator and the primary supporter of the faith-based movement, being certain that the return to the Holy Quran is the only way to save the nation from the state of humiliation, misery, and dependency.

His journey was not paved with roses, but he faced during it various kinds of obstacles, challenges, and injustice; he was subjected to systematic restriction and exclusion by the unjust authorities and the political and social environment at that time, which repeatedly tried to downsize his scientific role and distort his intellectual stances because of his absolute refusal to walk in the train of authority or flatter the arrogance forces.

And despite his pursuit, the targeting of his areas of presence, and the attempts to isolate his discourse, yet the late scholar preferred asceticism in the gains of the world and its positions, and rejected the tempting offers that aimed to turn him away from his principled stances, preferring to move between villages and regions to teach people and raise their awareness, enduring for the sake of that the bitterness of displacement and pursuit with a patient, faithful spirit, proving to the nation the meaning of steadfastness and loyalty to principles.

The late scholar offered the greatest sacrifices in his journey, and generously gave the most precious of what he owned for the sake of supporting the truth; and he was in the forefront of rows, bearing the burden of the unjust wars that were launched against Marran and Saada, and he presented his sons as martyrs in this journey, headed by the martyr leader Sayyed Hussein al-Houthi.

Those massive sacrifices did not increase him except in determination and certainty, and his faithful and jihadist upbringing yielded fruit in building and qualifying a wise Quranic leadership, embodied today under the leadership of the leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badreddin Al-Houthi, and in the victories and qualitative operations recorded by the Yemeni Armed Forces with ballistic missiles and drone aviation in confronting the forces of global tyranny, which makes that upbringing a solid foundation for the glory and dignity witnessed by Yemen today.

The scholar Sayyed Badr al-Din al-Houthi left an Islamic library rich in publications and research that defended the authenticity of Islamic thought and confronted the intrusive ideas and the takfiri and misleading attempts; and his publications were distinguished by inferential depth and simplification that links religion to reality, and among the most prominent of those scientific publications: "Al-Taysir fi Tafsir al-Qur'an al-Karim" (The Facilitation in the Interpretation of the Holy Quran), which is considered one of the most important compositions that focused on highlighting Quranic guidance and moving the verses in the reality of the nation.

The scholar al-Houthi remains an integrated school in knowledge, jihad, and sacrifice; and reviving his annual commemoration is not merely a passing occasion, but rather a faithful and mobilization station from which the Yemeni people and all the free people of the nation inspire the values of steadfastness and loyalty, and the sensing of responsibility in confronting enemies and preserving the achievements that were realized thanks to the blood and sacrifices of the divine figures of the nation.
