Sanaa: The Ministry of Education and Scientific Research on Monday announced the opening of registration for competition and admission to free seats at universities, community colleges, and government and private technical institutes for the 1448 AH / 2027-2028 academic year.

According to Yemen News Agency, the ministry has invited male and female students possessing general secondary, vocational secondary, and basic education certificates from eligible categories to apply for these free seats. These seats are specifically allocated to groups that are considered among the most affected and in need of support to continue their education.

The ministry's statement highlighted that the scholarships cover ten categories from various segments of society. These include outstanding students, first-degree relatives of martyrs, war-wounded individuals, and victims of terrorist acts along with their first-degree relatives. Civilians injured in bombardments or terrorist incidents and their families are also eligible for these grants.

Additionally, the scholarships target members of the army, popular committees, and security forces stationed on frontlines. Orphaned students from state orphan care centers and students from underserved governorates, including Bayda, Jawf, Hajjah, Socotra, Sa'ada, Amran, Marib, and Shabwa, are also beneficiaries. Other eligible groups include students with disabilities, displaced students, descendants of Bilal, and ministry employees and their first-degree relatives.

The ministry urged applicants to submit their requests through the electronic portal at mohesr.gov.ye between Dhu al-Qi'dah 24 and Dhu al-Hijjah 3, which corresponds to May 11-20. This submission period precedes competency examinations that will be conducted for all applicants.

Students are advised to keep track of updates, results, and admission procedures via the ministry's electronic portal and official media platforms. Additionally, they can contact the designated support teams through the phone numbers assigned to each category for further assistance.
