Efforts Urged to Combat Disinformation and Highlight Yemen’s Crisis

Sanaa:An expanded consultative meeting was held in Sanaa, led by Deputy Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, with the participation of presidents from both public and private universities. The meeting aimed to coordinate academic initiatives to highlight Yemen's situation and counter misleading media campaigns.

According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Luqman emphasized the critical role of academics in addressing media disinformation. During the meeting, Sanaa University Cultural Adviser Abdul-Salam Al-Mutamayyiz advocated for scientific, evidence-based responses to the claims made by Arab and Gulf commentators.

The discussions focused on enhancing communication with universities and academic institutions abroad, documenting violations linked to the Saudi-led aggression coalition during the prolonged conflict and blockade, and advocating for the unconditional lifting of restrictions on Yemen's air, land, and sea access.

Participants called on Yemeni academics to use evidence-based research, documented reports, academic articles, and international outreach to challenge false narratives about Yemen. They urged universities and colleges to organize seminars and media activities to draw attention to Yemen's humanitarian situation and to support the Palestinian cause.

Additionally, the meeting resolved to establish direct communication with Arab and Islamic universities regarding the impacts of the conflict and blockade. It also suggested leveraging academic and research networks to present the Yemeni perspective to international audiences.
