Accra:Sa'ada The Ente?af Organization for Women and Children's Rights has strongly condemned the Saudi airstrike on the house of Ali Al-Qahm in the Al-Tawilah area of Sahar District, Sa'ada Governorate. The organization described the incident as a horrific massacre that resulted in the house becoming a grave for civilians, most of them women and children.
According to Yemen News Agency, the airstrike initially resulted in the deaths of 10 civilians and injured 23 others. The majority of the casualties were women and children, and search and rescue efforts are ongoing to recover victims.
The organization emphasized that targeting inhabited houses is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians and civilian objects. It highlighted the ongoing suffering of Yemeni civilians due to continuous impunity and the lack of effective international mechanisms to hold those responsible accountable for such crimes.
The statement from Ente?af stressed that repeated attacks on residential areas and the terrorizing of families, resulting in the deaths of women and children, are direct assaults on the right to life and human dignity.
Ente?af has called on the international community, the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and other relevant international organizations to meet their legal and moral obligations. They urged these bodies to break their silence on the perpetrators of these crimes and underscored the urgent need to protect civilians and ensure justice, redress, and compensation for the victims and their families.
