Taiz:The Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights has strongly condemned the recent military escalation and direct attacks on civilians in Taiz Governorate, which resulted in several casualties, predominantly affecting women and children.
According to Yemen News Agency, a statement issued by the organization highlighted that a woman was killed and five others, including a girl, were injured when a gathering of women was targeted in Bani Amer, Al-Shamayatayn District. In a separate incident, a man was killed and his wife was injured due to artillery shelling in their home in Al-Ram Al-A'la, Hayfan District.
The organization emphasized that these attacks pose significant threats to civilians and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis faced by families in the affected areas. It described the targeting of houses, civilian objects, and populated residential areas as flagrant violations of international humanitarian law, calling for immediate international intervention to stop the violations and ensure accountability.
Entisaf warned of the severe psychological and social consequences, including fear and loss of security, for women and children. It stressed the legal and moral obligation to protect civilians and urged the United Nations and international human rights bodies to document these violations, advocate for an immediate cessation of attacks on residential areas, and ensure that urgent medical care and humanitarian aid reach those affected.
The organization underscored that the lives lost among women and children should not be seen as mere statistics, but as individuals entitled to life and security under international law, cautioning that continued international inaction could perpetuate impunity and worsen the suffering of Yemeni families.
