Entisaf Organization Condemns Saudi Attack on Civilians in Hayfan, Taiz

Taiz:The Entisaf Organization for Women's and Children's Rights has condemned the deadly attack by Saudi forces on the Al-Amror area of Hayfan District in Taiz Governorate. The assault involved mortar shelling, resulting in the deaths of two civilians, including a young girl, and injuring six others, among them two children and two women. Some of the injuries sustained are reported to be serious.

According to Yemen News Agency, the organization issued a statement highlighting the attack as part of a series of systematic violations against civilians and residential neighborhoods in Yemen. The statement emphasized that the direct shelling of homes increases the risks faced by women and children, destabilizing families and causing significant physical and psychological trauma.

The statement further described the targeting of civilian gatherings as a severe breach of international humanitarian law, specifically citing the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and Additional Protocol I of 1977. These laws provide civilians with special protection and prohibit actions that endanger their lives and safety.

The Entisaf Organization holds the Saudi forces entirely responsible for the attack and its consequences. It called on the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, the High Commissioner, and international bodies focused on the protection of women and children to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by explicitly condemning the attack. The organization urged immediate action to protect civilians in Yemen.

Additionally, the organization urged for the documentation of these violations, the accountability of perpetrators, and justice for the victims. It also called on the international community to move beyond formal condemnations and take concrete steps to end the targeting of residential areas, thereby preserving human dignity.
