Dhamar: The General Corporation for Potato Seed Production in Dhamar Governorate organized a speech event today commemorating the Mawlid al-Nabawi. The event was attended by Shura Council members Hassan Abdulrazzaq and Mohammed Al-Fatimi. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Siraji, emphasized that the Mawlid is one of the holiest occasions in human history, through which God revived hearts and guided humanity from darkness to light.
According to Yemen News Agency, the occasion was described as a station for drawing faith, awareness, and lessons from the Prophet's biography, and for renewing commitment to the Muhammadan approach of building a strong, self-sufficient nation. The Deputy Minister praised the corporation's efforts in achieving self-sufficiency in potato seeds, developing new local varieties, and protecting local farmers. He announced the upcoming launch of nine new local potato seed varieties: Ammar, Bayan, Raitaj, Ryan, Siraj, Kawthar, Manar, Suhail, and Tasneem.
He stressed that no nation can achieve sovereignty while depending on imports from enemies, and that agricultural resilience is the true weapon to confront siege and economic challenges. He called for unified efforts to support irrigation technologies, improved seeds, community initiatives, and innovation to achieve self-sufficiency in basic crops.
The Corporation's Director, Engineer Hamdan Al-Akwa', highlighted the values inherited from the Prophet: trust in God, honesty, mercy, charity, sincerity, and integrity. He urged drawing inspiration from the Prophet's biography and embodying his morals in word and deed.
The event, attended by agricultural sector leaders, executive office directors, corporation staff, sheikhs, and social figures, featured poetic recitals, chants, and a theatrical sketch.
