Final Draft of 2nd Phase of Pharmaceutical Industries Localization Strategy Discussed

Sana'a: A meeting held on Monday, which included the Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban, and the Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, discussed the final draft of the second phase of the National Strategy for the Localization of Pharmaceutical Industries. According to Yemen News Agency, the second phase aims to increase the number of locally produced pharmaceutical products to 373. The meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Studies and Research, Dr. Essam al-Rumaimah, the Chairman of the General Investment Authority, Mohammed Ishaq, the Chairman of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies, Dr. Amin Qubas, and the Executive Director of the Standards Authority, Abdullah al-Atifi, reviewed the articles of the final draft of the second phase of the National Strategy for the Localization of Pharmaceutical Industries and approved the final draft after incorporating the comments made on it. During the meeting, the Minister o f Health and the Acting Minister of Economy emphasized the importance of a phased approach to prioritizing the implementation of the second phase of the Pharmaceutical Industries Localization Strategy. They emphasized the need to focus on directing national industries toward specialized products that meet local market needs and reduce the import bill, and that the second phase should contribute to advancing the pharmaceutical industry and encouraging research and innovation in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The meeting approved submitting the final draft of the second phase of the strategy for localizing the pharmaceutical industry to the Cabinet for approval and official launch.
