Finance Minister Stresses Strategic Partnership Between Tax Administration & Taxpayers


Sana’a: Finance Minister Abduljabbar Ahmed, during a meeting today, Saturday with the leadership of the Tax and Customs Authority, stressed the need to establish a strategic partnership between the tax, customs administration and taxpayers.



According to Yemen News Agency, Minister Abduljabbar noted, during the meeting which included Deputy Minister of Finance Nasser Al-Hamdani, Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi, his deputy Dr. Ahmed Shreim, and a number of ministry and authority undersecretaries, that the primary goal is not revenue collection, but rather promoting development and achieving economic advancement.



He pointed out that the taxpayer is a partner of the state and should be treated on this basis, away from any practices that could undermine the tax and customs administration.



The Finance Minister directed the speedy completion of unresolved tax files that have not yet been settled, and the need to identify appropriate solutions within a defined timeframe.



He also emphasized the importance of advancing tax and customs work in the coming period as one of the outcomes of merging the Tax and Customs Authorities, which entails unifying decision-making, simplifying procedures, facilitating services, and reducing bureaucratic processes.



Minister Abduljabbar praised the efforts made by the authority in automating various operations across all its offices, units, and centers.



For his part, the Acting Head of the Tax and Customs Authority reviewed the ongoing transformations within the authority and the efforts being made to implement directives aimed at developing services provided to taxpayers.



He affirmed that the authority is working diligently to achieve institutional transformation in tax and customs work, laying the foundation for a new phase that enhances partnership with taxpayers.



Meanwhile, the Finance Minister was briefed on the workflow and the level of discipline in several departments and units of the authority on the first day of work following the Eid al-Adha holiday.
