Moscow: Foreign Minister undersecretary for Political and Consular Affairs ambassador Abdullah Sabri on Thursday criticized U.S. foreign policy and its use of 'terrorism' classifications in international relations, during his participation in a conference hosted in Moscow.
According to Yemen News Agency, Ambassador Sabri delivered a paper via video link at the conference titled 'New Geopolitical Horizons: The Development of International Relations and Integration Processes in the Contemporary World,' organized by the Faculty of Political Science at Moscow State University and the Russian Political Science Association, with the participation of dozens of researchers, academics, and diplomats from various countries.
In his remarks, Sabri highlighted contradictions in U.S. foreign policy across several international and regional crises, including the 2017 diplomatic dispute with Qatar, where Washington initially supported the Saudi-led blockade under the banner of combating terrorism, before later signing trade agreements with Doha and designating Qatar as a major non-NATO ally.
He also referred to the U.S.-led interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq following the September 11 attacks, arguing that counterterrorism was used as a pretext for advancing strategic interests and maintaining a unipolar world order.
The paper recommended that major powers, particularly Russia and China, confront what it described as U.S. policies and reject accusations lacking objective and logical evidence. It further called on Arab and Gulf states to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, respect national sovereignty, and avoid uncalculated alignment with U.S. policies.
The conference, which concluded today and coincided with the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the International Relations Department at the Faculty of Political Science of Lomonosov Moscow State University, addressed transformations in the international system, the dynamics of multipolarity, the future of regional integration processes, and Russian national interests within the contemporary global context.
