Sana'a: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has responded to a statement from the Arab League Council's recent ministerial-level meeting, which addressed "Iranian attacks on a number of Arab countries."
According to Yemen News Agency, the Foreign Affairs Ministry emphasized that Iran's actions, specifically targeting military bases in various Arab nations, are within its legitimate right to self-defense, as supported by the United Nations Charter and international norms, conventions, and laws. The Ministry argued that the true threats to regional and international peace, maritime security, and energy security stem from American-Israeli aggression against Iran, rather than Iran's self-defensive measures.
The Ministry's statement called on Arab states to refocus their opposition towards what it identified as the real adversary of the Arab nation: global Zionism and its allies, the United States and the Israeli entity. It claimed that aggression against Iran is part of a strategy to enable Israeli control over the region by eliminating opposition.
Furthermore, the Ministry urged Arab nations to reconsider hosting American military bases and to instead bolster their own defense capabilities. It advocated for the activation of joint Arab defense mechanisms, particularly the Joint Arab Defense Agreement.
The statement criticized the League of Arab States for not condemning American-Israeli aggression against Iran, as well as ongoing Israeli actions against Palestine and Lebanon, and recent American actions in Iraq. It called for Arab nations to take decisive steps to counter these aggressions, viewing them as direct threats to all member states, and to support necessary measures, including potential retaliatory actions.
Lastly, the Ministry cautioned Arab nations against falling into a U.S.-Israeli strategy that seeks to provoke direct confrontation between some Arab states and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
