Hodeidah: The Deir Al-Nashad water project was inaugurated in Al-Qanawis District, Hodeidah Governorate, as part of a community initiative implemented by the residents with funding from the General Zakat Authority, at a cost of ten million riyals.
According to Yemen News Agency, the project benefits 150 families and includes drilling an artesian well equipped with an integrated solar energy system. It also involves installing a central pumping network to deliver clean water to citizens' homes, contributing significantly to fulfilling their essential drinking water needs.
During the inauguration, the District Director, Mohammed Al-Qawzi, praised the concerted community efforts that resulted in the project's completion. He affirmed that self-initiatives demonstrate community awareness of the importance of participating in local development and overcoming current challenges.
He explained that the Local Council prioritizes water projects to improve services for citizens in various villages and sub-districts, appreciating the humanitarian role of the Zakat Authority in supporting projects that address the needs of the poor and needy, thereby enhancing their resilience.
Hassan Al-Nahari, the Zakat Director in the district, explained that the project aligns with the Authority's directives to support priority service projects, especially in the water sector, due to its direct importance in the lives and stability of citizens. He affirmed the Authority's commitment to funding and supporting community initiatives that meet the needs of beneficiary families and contribute to local development and improved basic services in targeted areas.
