Foreign Ministry Accuses UN Security Council of Violating Its Own Charters and Rights

Sana'a: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirmed that the UN Security Council, which is supposed to uphold peoples' human rights and ensure justice, is itself the first to violate the charters and rights it advocates.

According to Yemen News Agency, the ministry highlighted what it called an unprecedented contradiction: the Security Council's simultaneous calls for preserving Yemen's sovereignty and independence, while taking measures that undermine these very principles. The statement from the ministry also accused Saudi Arabia of using its financial resources to secure international courtesies, thereby undermining the foundational charters of global institutions.

The ministry questioned the Security Council's awareness of Saudi warplanes violating Yemeni airspace since March 26, 2015, culminating in the attack on Sana'a Airport on July 13, 2026. It argued that if the Council genuinely aimed for international peace and security, its permanent members would not be the same states engaging in wars and occupations, denying peoples their rights without involving the Council.

The ministry also brought attention to the Security Council's past resolutions aimed at protecting the Palestinian people from Israeli actions, noting its inability to enforce these resolutions since 1948. The ministry accused Saudi Arabia of denying Yemeni rights and alleged that the country has previously suppressed the Arab and Muslim identity and heritage in the region.

Yemen's Foreign Ministry declared its reliance on divine support and its own capabilities to secure its full rights, dismissing what it termed 'paid' statements. It stressed that Saudi Arabia's efforts to mobilize proxies, issue statements, or form alliances would not prevent it from facing accountability for its actions against Yemen.

The statement concluded by questioning whether actions such as occupying countries, exploiting resources, and committing mass killings align with the UN Charter. It asserted that through such positions, the United Nations and its institutions reveal their true stance to peoples seeking their legitimate rights.
