General

Sana'a: Civil Defense Authority, led by Major General Ibrahim al-Moayyed, and acting CEO of the Yemen Gas Company, Yasser al-Wahdi on Tuesday held a meeting to discuss establishing direct-sale gas stations in compliance with technical specifications and occupational safety standards to protect lives and public and private property.

According to Yemen News Agency, specialists from both entities reviewed industrial safety requirements and technical standards for central gas stations, direct-sale outlets, vehicle fueling companies, and large-scale consumer suppliers.

The meeting agreed on unified coordination mechanisms between the Civil Defense Authority, the Gas Company, and municipal offices to ensure compliance with these safety standards. Any station failing to meet the requirements will face legal action, including removal, and no permits will be issued without full compliance.

The parties emphasized the importance of training workers at all types of gas facilities in emergency response and safety procedures, requiring protective gear, and displaying public safety instructions on site.

Both al-Moayyed and al-Wahdi stressed the need to eliminate unsafe practices such as transferring gas from one cylinder to another in streets or shops due to the severe risks involved.
