Brussels: Gas storage levels in the European Union have fallen to less than 50%, which is more than 18 percentage points less than the previous year, according to data from the Gas Infrastructure Association in Europe.
According to Yemen News Agency, European storage facilities were filled by 49.99% as of the night of February 6 (which ended on the morning of February 7). This marks a significant decrease of 18.2 percentage points compared to the same date last year. Since the beginning of the gas withdrawal season in early November, the filling level has decreased by 45.2 percentage points.
The total volume of stored gas currently stands at about 55.7 billion cubic meters, which is approximately 19.9 billion cubic meters less than last year. Experts from the Energy and Finance Institute have indicated that between February and March, depending on weather conditions, an additional 12 to 20 billion cubic meters of reserves may be consumed.
As of April 1, the storage level is expected to range from 34% to 42%, a stark contrast to the 61% recorded in 2024, according to the association.
