Geology Authority Team Inspects Rockslide-Threatened Sites in Mahweet

Mahweet: A technical team from the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority carried out a field visit Saturday to several sites in Mahweet governorate threatened by recurrent rockslides, particularly amid the ongoing heavy rains.

According to Yemen News Agency, the team, led by Dr. Aref al-Jabali, Director of the Rock Cover Risk Project, and Engineer Mohammed al-Qahtani from the Executive Road Maintenance Unit, assessed geological formations, soil conditions, and mountain slopes at vulnerable locations.

Al-Jabali emphasized that the inspections aim to study geological risks and propose engineering solutions such as retaining walls and precautionary measures to protect residents and property. Citizens have voiced concern over worsening rockslide dangers each year, expressing hope that the studies would yield urgent and lasting safety measures.
